An honest update from A Sustainable Village
To our Refill Heroes and community,
We want to share an honest update about A Sustainable Village, the challenges weโre facing, and our hopes for the future.
Keeping sustainable living accessible has always mattered to us. Weโve largely held our prices steady, even as costs around us have risen. But absorbing those increases has put real financial pressure on our small business.
A new way to thank you
Through our rewards program, weโve given back more than $11,000 in discounts. Weโve been grateful to offer that thank-you for your support, but weโve come to realize that our small business needs to retain more of its revenue to cover operating costs and build a sustainable future. Your loyalty and support mean just as much to us as ever.
To continue thanking you in a way we can sustain, weโre replacing our current points-based rewards program with a stamp card. The current points-based program will end on December 31, 2026. You can continue to redeem your existing points through that date, and we encourage you to use them before the program ends. More than 500 of you have a $5 off coupon to redeem.
Where things stand with our space
Thereโs also uncertainty around our space. Our lease ended in August, and weโve been negotiating with our landlord about moving next door to a space with an enclosed storage area. While the move wouldnโt add much square footage, it would allow us to improve the store layout and resolve our current air-conditioning installation challenges. Weโre still waiting to hear whether our offer will be accepted. Weโve learned that other businesses have offered higher rent, but we need to stay within what our business can sustainably afford.
Our plan is to remain open. However, our lease renewal is not yet confirmed, and we donโt want to offer certainty we donโt have. We know some of you are concerned about our future, and we want to keep you informed as things develop.
Help us shape 2027
Looking ahead to 2027, weโd love to bring you new products and experiences, and we want your input. What would you like to see at A Sustainable Village? What products, workshops, or experiences would make the shop more useful and meaningful to you?
Share your thoughts with us at hello@asvrefill.com or during your next visit. Weโd genuinely love to hear them.
Thank you for every visit, refill, order, recommendation, share, like, comment, and word of encouragement. We donโt take your support for granted. We hope to share positive news very soon, and weโll keep you updated as we know more.
With gratitude,
Em and ASV team
